When to See the Doctor

See your doctor for the following symptoms, which may be due to several conditions, including bladder cancer:
- Pain or burning on urination
- Blood in the urine
- Pain in the side, lower back or lower abdomen
- Frequent urination or feeling the need to urinate without being able to
- Slowing of urinary stream
If you have been diagnosed with bladder cancer, call your doctor if you have new symptoms, or your symptoms get worse. Also, call if you:
- Are unable to take or keep your medicine down
- Have chest pain or difficulty breathing
- Have worsening urinary symptoms, such as frequent urination or unable to urinate
- Have increased pain
