Common Symptoms of Laryngeal Cancer
 

Hoarseness

Sore throat

Cough

Pain, or difficulty swallowing or breathing

Change in voice quality

Enlarged lymph nodes in the neck or behind the ear

"Lump" in the throat

 

Specialists

Patients with head and neck cancers are usually treated by a team of specialists. The specialists vary, depending on the location and extent of the cancer.

The medical team may include:

  • Oral surgeons
  • Ear, nose, and throat surgeons (also called otolaryngologists)
  • Medical oncologists
  • Radiation oncologists
  • Prosthodontists (dental specialists in the restoration and replacement of teeth)
  • Dentists
  • Plastic surgeons
  • Dietitians
  • Physical therapists
  • Speech therapists
