Risk Factors
There are a few risk factors that are associated with Hodgkin's disease. However, many cases have none of these risks. For those risk-associated cases, it is impossible to determine the influence of those risks on disease development. They are:
- Being in young or late adulthood
- Being male
- Being infected with the Epstein-Barr virus
- Having a first-degree relative (parent, brother or sister) with Hodgkin's lymphoma
- Immune deficiency states due to AIDS, medications to prevent organ transplant rejection or a congenital immune deficiency syndrome
