Ask your doctor about...

During routine visits, ask about:
- When and how often you need to do a skin self-exam
- How often you need to see the doctor for routine skin checks
- Your risks for skin cancer and how to reduce them
If you find a skin lesion, ask:
- If the finding is normal or if it requires more investigation
- If a referral to a dermatologist is needed
- If you will need a skin biopsy
If you are diagnosed with skin cancer, ask your doctor:
- To go over the biopsy pathology report and explain what it all means
- To explain what tests you can expect and to describe the staging process
- To explain the treatment options and which may be most appropriate
- To tell you about any clinical trials that may help
- To explain how to manage pain and discomfort caused by the treatments and the skin cancer itself
- To advise how often you should return to the office for follow-up visits
- To go over symptoms that indicate the cancer has come back and what to do if it does
