When to See the Doctor

To prevent periodontal disease, see your dentist twice a year. You may need more frequent visits if you are pregnant or have diabetes, dental problems or other risk factors. Periodontal disease has been called a silent disease because people often don't have pain or notice symptoms until it is advanced.
