Treatment Plan

No specific treatment exists for West Nile virus. People with mild cases usually recover on their own, and can take over-the-counter medications for headache and body aches.
However, if you have a severe infection, you should be hospitalized. Care may involve IV fluids, respiratory support and prevention of secondary infections.
