Other Tests

No X-ray or laboratory test can diagnose depression. The diagnosis is made by a qualified medical professional, using a detailed interview and a careful review of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. This is called a mental status exam.
However, you may need special tests to rule out other conditions such as thyroid disorders.
