Other Tests

Your doctor may order blood or urine tests and an EKG to rule out physical illness as a cause of your symptoms. You may need special tests for other conditions.
There is no X-ray or laboratory test to diagnose PD. The diagnosis is made by a health care professional using a detailed interview and a careful review of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. This is called a mental status exam.
Your psychiatrist or mental health professional may perform one of the following tests to determine the level of depression, anxiety, etc. that you are experiencing:
- Beck depression inventory.
- Sheenan test for anxiety.
- Other mental health evaluation tests, depending on type of disorder.
