Symptoms

People may not be aware of symptoms of poor sleep, according to the National Sleep Foundation, which lists the following symptoms:
- Dozing off while reading, watching TV, sitting in meetings or in traffic.
- Slowed thinking and reacting.
- Trouble with listening.
- Trouble remembering.
- Frequent errors.
- Poor attention span.
- Poor judgment.
- Depression.
- Impatience.
- Frequent blinking, difficulty focusing, painful eyes or heavy eyelids.
Insomnia is often characterized as:
- Having trouble falling asleep.
- Waking up frequently during the night with difficulty falling asleep.
- Waking up too early in the morning.
- Waking up tired.
