When to See a Specialist

If over-the-counter medications aren't helping, check in with your primary care doctor or your child's pediatrician. If you still aren't getting enough relief, your doctor can refer you to an allergist or immunologist, which is a doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma and other allergic diseases. Allergists and immunologists have special training to identify your allergy triggers.
