Lab Tests

Blood testing
Your doctor may give you a blood test called the radioallergosorbent test (RAST), instead of skin testing. For the RAST test, blood is drawn from a vein and then sent for testing for the presence of allergen-specific antibodies. Your test may show you have some allergies you were not aware of or help you pinpoint the exact trigger for your allergies. The RAST is not considered to be as sensitive as the scratch skin test.
