Other Tests

Skin testing
A small dose of the suspected trigger is injected just under the skin, or scratched into the skin. If the doctor suspects you have several allergens, a grid format may be used so that it is clear which allergen is being placed where. Your back or the back of your arm may be used for the test, depending on the number of allergens being tested. The doctor checks the site for a reaction such as redness, itching, or raised bumps or welts.
