Suggested Checkups and Tests for Children

The following schedule is based on recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Your doctor or insurance company may prefer a different schedule.

You may want to consider adding routine immunizations to the checklist for each age.

  • Vitamin K injection for normal blood clotting and to prevent excessive bleeding


  • Antibiotic ointment or drops in both eyes to prevent eye infections


  • Counseling on injury prevention (car accidents, falls, burns, choking/suffocation), violence prevention, sleep positioning and nutrition


  • Blood test to detect hereditary and metabolic disorders
